Welcome To The Detachment

Welcome to Loudoun County, Virginia's Marine Corps League Detachment 1205's web site.

The detachment has been active since 2005, providing a continuing home for Marines of all ages and backgrounds, keeping alive our links with The Corps, and serving the community. Here you can learn about us, our activities, and our community work. You can also learn how to join, either as a Marine member or an associate member, and how, as a community volunteer, to participate in Toys for Tots,

We meet the third Tuesday of each month at American Legion Post 293, 112N 21st Street, Purcellville, Virginia, and have many activities throughout the year, culminating in our Toys for Tots campaign before each Christmas.

We are recruiting new members all the time, and look forward to your involvement.

In the last analysis, what the Marine Corps becomes is what we make of it during our respective watches. And that watch of each Marine is not confined to the time he spends on active duty. It last as long as he is “proud to bear the title of United States Marine.”
—Gen Louis H. Wilson, 26th CMC, 22 Aug. 1975.

A Message for Marines
The detachment has 50 members whose Marine experience ranges through all MOSs, both genders, ages ranging from really 'Old Corps' to currently serving, and all ranks. We unite around our common experience, our pride of Corps and Country, and the desire to continue the Marine experience and to remain of service to our country and our community...keeping true to the meaning of Semper Fidelis. We firmly believe that for Marines coming off active duty membership in the Marine Corps League makes easier the transition. And for those who have been away for many years it provides a link to those youthful, prideful Marine Corps years. For all, membership re-creates that partnership bred of common experience and values. For that reason, we actively recruit and welcome new members.

A Message for Our Community
The detachment cannot accomplish our primary community mission, Toys for Tots, without you. Each year members of our detachment are blessed by volunteers from the community who join with us to collect, sort, package and deliver thousands of toys to thousands of needy children and their families. On average, 300 volunteers join with us every Christmas to process over 25,000 toys. Many of our volunteers return year after year and share this fulfilling work with us. What can we say but "Thank you". It wouldn't be possible without you.

*Associate Memberships are available* . Often these are of interest to former members of other military branches and to civilians who want to become more involved in our activities. Some of our most involved and valuable memebers are associate members.
