Col. John W. Thomason Jr.'s WW I Combat Art - Plus a Few Others

Although Col.Thomason is not the only WWI combat artist, many of his drawings were done while he was engaged in his primary job: combat. His military career began with battlefield action in World War I, in which he fought in five major engagements and fourteen battles, including Belleau Wood, Château-Thierry, San Mihiel, Soissons, and Blanc Mont. He illustrated his books with scenes from his combat experience, many drawn on the battlefields.

The majority of the art presented here is Thomason's but there are also fine works by Kerr Eby, George Harding, Harvey T. Dunn, and Claggett Wilson. Lester Hornby. Eby and Harding were combat artists in both WW I and WW II.
