The Corps from Tripoli to WW I
Soon after the reestablishment of the Navy and its Marine Corps in 1798, engagements soon followed in the Pseudo-War with France and the Barbary Pirates, the War of 1812, the Seminole Wars, the Mexican American War, the Civil War, the Spanish American War, the Boxer Rebellion, the Philippine Insurrection, unrest in the Carribean.
It was a very busy period as the Corps' units were stationed on ships and Naval bases around the world and, until WW I, seldom operated in greater than batallion-sized operations.
